Holiday-ish: National Burrito Day

Burritos are like the subs of Mexican cuisine.

Today, April 4, celebrates the tastiness of an amazing Mexican dish, the burrito.

Today is National Burrito day.

A burrito is a tortilla wrapped around meat, cheese, tomato, rice, beans, vegetables, and sauces.

What gives it an amazing flavor are spices such as cumin, chili powder, and oregano to give the burritos an authentic flavor.

A fun fact is that in Spanish, the word “burrito” means little donkey.

If you don’t like a certain type of burrito, it’s okay because there are plenty of meats, cheeses, and sauces that you can choose from to improve your burrito and make it better. On the menu of your typical Mexican restaurant alone one could find bean burritos, chicken burritos, or carne asada burritos. At a place like Taco Bell one could find a Burrito Supreme of a Chimichanga, which is a deep-fried burrito.

Burritos have also proven to be quite versatile. Not only can you prepare traditional Mexican burritos but also breakfast burritos or cheesesteak burritos.

So today, if you need an option to eat, go and have some burritos at a restaurant or make one at home.
