The COTY program is underway at Bellwood-Antis.
COTY, which stands for Citizen of the Year, is a reward program for students. COTY is designed to motivate all individuals to achieve a level of character and academic achievement throughout the school year. Students qualifying for COTY will be determined by the second week of May.
COTY students earn the benefit of leaving the high school campus to miss qualifying finals during finals week. It rewards students for hard work and good behavior with time off school.
To qualify for COTY students must meet requirements in several areas.
Community service:
- grades 11 and 12: 5 hours of approved community service
- grades 9 and 10: 3 hours of approved community service (use of standard community service hours sheet required and must be turned in by May 5th.)
Attendance:
- zero unexcused/illegal absences (exceptions for prolonged doctor’s excuse)
- no more than 5 tardies (exceptions for exceptions for doctor)
Discipline:
- zero suspensions (ISS or OSS).
- zero detentions (ASD, BSD, SMD) during the school year
- one After School Detention will be forgiven by the principle in return for additional 3 hours of community service
- If caught cheating, you will be disqualified for COTY.
- If you violate the harassment or bullying policy you will be disqualified for COTY.
Students received a community service log for COTY during the first week of school. This should be turned in when completed in order to qualify.
