Bellwood-Antis teacher Mr. Nevin Wood says that his mom had a big influence on this career choice to become a teacher.
“She worked at a daycare when I was growing up and now teaches at the AAJHS,” he said. “I always enjoyed hearing about her students succeeding.”
Because of his passion to see his own students succeed, Mr. Wood has been selected as a BluePrint Feature Teacher.
This is Mr. Wood’s first year at B-A. He graduated from Bellwood-Antis in 2017, and he said it feels amazing being able to give back to his hometown school, which, he said, provided him with both academic and athletic fundamentals.
“It is a blessing” he said
While at B-A, Mr. played a variety of sports ranging from football and basketball to baseball. He takes part in coaching junior high basketball now after joining the staff last season.
From his experience so far, Mr. Wood has enjoyed his job, and he is glad to be back in Bellwood. He loves the “close-knit” community and believes Bellwood is a place where you can work more in-depth with students.
Like his mother before him, Mr. Wood loves seeing his students learn and grow throughout the school year. He also enjoys establishing a positive rapport with his students and being someone they can count on and trust.
