The Bellwood-Antis Junior High football team had high hopes for the 2024 fall season, according to our student athletes, Bryson Guyer and Jackson Weiand. Bryson Guyer was the quarterback for the Blue Devil junior high football team this year. He said his goal for the season was to “go 500,” which meant to win at least half of their games. He also mentioned that he enjoyed “playing with the team” the most about football. Our other Bellwood-Antis Junior High student athlete, Jackson Weiand, who was the team’s split end, said his goal was to “score 3 touchdowns, try not to give up touchdowns, and be over 500.” He shared that what he enjoyed most about football was “the bus rides to games.”
Playing football was a team sport because if there weren’t linemen, the running backs would get tackled. If there wasn’t a quarterback to call the plays, nobody would know where to go or what to do. If there weren’t wide receivers, then who would catch the ball? As football players, they had to keep up with schoolwork and work hard at practices. The long practices and bus rides also brought the team together as friends.
