BA’s Homecoming fundraisers came to an end Friday at halftime of the football game against Bishop Guilfoyle.
Bellwood-Antis raised $10,000 during the lead-up to Homecoming, nearly doubling the output from 2024.
All funds raised by the fundraisers go directly to Sideline Cancer, a local organization that funds patients through the power of sports and whose goal is to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. These particular funds go directly to members of the Bellwood-Antis community battling cancer.
Since 2022 B-A has raised an incredible $29,781 for people B-A community members.
This year’s recipients were Mark Miner, Tina Brubaker, and Myers Elementary first Ggader Ethan Zook.
“Raising nearly $30,000 in 4 years is absolutely incredible. It is a testament to the community we live in and the generosity that is always extended,” said Homecoming organizer Mrs. Allison Stinson. “I am so proud to say that we are the 1st football school to raise a donation of $10,000 in a single event and the 6th school to reach that mark.”
In total the game raised nearly $12,000 when including Bishop Guilfoyle’s amount, placing it as the 3rd most philanthropic dollars raised in one Sideline Cancer event.
“It was surreal. Just knowing we could make such a big impact on three families was an amazing feeling. It’s always awesome to watch our community give back to others,” said senior Lily Gerwert, who as a member of the court sold t-shirts to benefit the cause.
Fellow court member Lindsay Campbell said it was something they “would always be proud of.”
“We are fortunate to even be a small part in giving back to the community and those who need it,” she said.
Mrs. Stinson was overflowing with praise for the generosity of the Bellwood and Antis Township communities.
“It truly is BIGGER than SPORTS, BIGGER than the crown. It’s BA making a BIG impact. I am so very proud of all our kids for their dedication to giving others love and hope,” said Mrs. Stinson.
