The Bellwood-Antis Renaissance Club is hosting it’s seventh Safe Night Trick or Treat on Tuesday, October 28.
Safe Trick or Treat is a night when Bellwood-Antis School District allows community members to come into the school and trick or treat around the high school hallways, going from classroom to classroom. Each room is hosted by a different high school club or group.
The event started in 2019 but took a halt during COVID. It’s run by Mrs. Allison Stinson, who is a math teacher and softball coach. Mrs. Stinson said the idea came from a similar event she saw in Hollidaysburg.
“I thought it would be a great way for all of our clubs and teams to come together to support a common cause,” she said.
This event is a nice time for the community and “has become a wonderful community event that draws a bigger crowd each year.”
“I am so grateful to the clubs, teams, advisors and coaches that help make this so special for our town,” Stinson said..
Safe Night Trick or Treat attendees are encouraged to provide a donation at the door, though it is not required, to raise money for important causes.
“Typically, the donations received go to Mini-Thon in memory of Maddie Shura. In the past we have also donated to a family of an elementary student who was battling cancer,” Stinson Says.
Another student who has helped in the past, Lindsay Campbell said the joy of the kids who attend make it a very valuabe experience.
“I love being able to put smiles on little kids faces,” she said.
In all, safe night Trick or Treat is a wonderful community experience for the adults and child who participate.
