Each year on December 17, a sticky holiday comes around: “National Maple Syrup Day”
Maple syrup dates back all the way back to the indigenous people of North America. They’d use maple syrup as a sweetener for drinks or meats. Maple syrup was a key food source and a common trade item between tribes.
Canada is the world’s largest producer and consumer of maple syrup, with approximately 71% of the worlds production of maple syrup. Canadians consume about 48 lbs of maple syrup annually.
