When a new year comes around, so does a new you. Roughly 31% of Americans make a New Years resolution before the new year, with only 9% ultimately keeping the resolutions. With that being said, what are the most common New Years resolutions?
1. Being Happy-23% Some people just want to be simple, and that’s to just be happy. With roughly 23% of Americans who make this their resolution. Ways to be happy are by hanging out with friends. Go out and bowl or go out and eat with a couple friends. Give back to the community, and there’s many ways to do this. Clean up the local park, help out at a food bank, or simply ask your neighbor if they need anything. You can declutter, or just don’t worry, be happy.
2. Eating Healthier-22% With 22% of Americans wanting to throw out the bad food and introduce the healthy food, this New Years resolution is among the ones that usually don’t work out. Motivation to eating heathier isn’t reliable, nor is changing your habit. Personally, I think this resolution is very hard to keep up with, unless you’re hardcore with wanting to eat healthier.
3. Saving more money-21% People that always wanted that dream car of theirs are actively saving up for it, and the people saving are trying to pay off debt. 21% of Americans want to save up more money this year. As nice as that may seem, with the prices of many essential items, this resolution may be the hardest to maintain. You also never know what the New Year will have in store for you. You could have catastrophic car failure, unexpected health bills, and who knows what else the New Year will throw at you?
