Lily McNelis a leader of the volleyball and track team, has recently committed to the University of South Carolina.

The University of South Carolina, which is located in Columbia South Carolina is about nine and a half hours away by car. This distance will not stop Lily from following her dreams in majoring in biological sciences as either a pre-med or pre-pa track.

“I am very excited to get to meet new people and live in a new area. I am also a little nervous about being far away, but I really felt drawn to the campus and surrounding area,” stated Lily.

However, after a college visit, the distance did not outweigh any part of her or her parents’ decision,

“I decided on the car ride home from Columbia that I wanted to commit. My parents were in the car with me when I decided, and they were both happy for me because they also really liked the area and the school. They fully supported me the whole time.”

Lily has also managed to claim a spot in South Carolina’s Honors College.

“The campus was beautiful and there was a lot to do in the area. They offered a lot of opportunities to get involved in research, internships, community service, and study abroad. It just felt like the perfect fit, I am really excited,” stated Lily.
