Mr. Connor Hunter has been teaching for a while now at Bellwood-Antis Middle School, teaching 7th grade math.
But it turns out teaching wasn’t always on Mr. Hunter’s radar.
After graduating from B-A as the valedictorian in 2013, Mr. Hunter was confused and didn’t know what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
“I actually struggled figuring out what I wanted to do for a career,” he said.
He wouldn’t have guessed that he would become a math teacher, but because of that period of indecision Mr. Hunter feels he can relate to seniors who are struggling to choose a career path when there are so many different routes that you could take your life.
Outside of school, Mr. Hunter’s favorite things to do have always involved games, whether those are board games, video games, or sports. He also loves watching movies, both new movies at the movie theaters and at home.
Those two interests guided Mr. Hunter to create two new clubs in the middle school.
“Those two passions are actually why I started two of the clubs that I run at the middle school, board game club and my new movie critic club, where my students watch and learn how to critique movies,” he said.
Mr. started out as an electrical engineering major in college but quickly changed to math education when he realized that his true passion was to help young people “in the same way my teachers all helped me.”
A huge reason why he chose to be a teacher is because of the excellent teachers that he had here at Bellwood-Antis.
“I’m very fortunate to have be a Bellwood alum,” said Mr. Hunter.
Math is a difficult subject that can be intimidating, so it’s not often math teachers grow to be as beloved as Mr. Hunter,
Junior Landon Hostler believes “he’s been the most entertaining teacher sI’ve ever had.”
