The Bellwood-Antis High School Fellowship of Christian Athletes is starting its annual cereal drive. All proceeds go the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry in Altoona.
Students should prepare to bring in donations of cereal boxes to compete against other homerooms to see who can bring in the most cereal boxes. The winning homeroom earns a pizza party.
FCA has been running this cereal drive for 10 years and last year they collected 900 boxes. The number to reach this year is around 1,000.
FCA advisor Mr. Nick Lovrich has helped run the drive throughout its existence.
“I think it is important for me because we are making a positive impact on other people’s lives,” he said. “A lor of us are fortunate to not worry about not having enough food and it is important to help others when we can. I am always very proud of the effort or school district does to help them out at the pantry.”
The most boxes ever collected for the cereal drive was in 2015, when students collected 1,517 boxes.
The end of this year’s drive will be March 7. Please remember to bring your boxes of cereal to have chance at a pizza party.
“The cereal drive is always a great way to support the community by giving to the food pantry, and I’m so excited to see how many boxes we can collect this year,” said FCA president Chloe Stoltzfus.
