The Bellwood-Antis baseball team blew out a winless Glendale squad last night, 10-0 in five innings.

“Our defense and pitching has improved a great deal, now the hitting needs to catch up,” said Coach Steve Conlon.

Blake Johnston threw a no-hitter and added 7 strikeouts to cap off his impressive pitching performance.

“We played a good all-around game. Our hitting was solid and our defense played great,” said Johnston.

Jack Showalter went 2-2 in the game with 3 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.

Sawyer Kline also had a great day, collecting 4 RBI’s.

The bats for Bellwood last night were hot, but it seems like one game they are on and the next game they’re not.

“As a team, we need to have a more consistent approach at the plate. In order to make the playoffs, we will have to make sure we have quality at-bats each at bat, we can’t give any away,” added Coach Conlon.

Bellwood’s next game will be today against a Mount Union team in which they got 10-runned by earlier this season.
