As the 2016 school year winds down, it’s time to start thinking of the new school year coming up.

One of the biggest beginnings to the new school year is the Backyard Brawl football game played between Bellwood-Antis and Tyrone, but starting now is the annual T-shirt design contest.

Members of both communities are encouraged to participate in the contest, which asks contestants to design the best Backyard Brawl t-shirt.

The contest is open online to anyone.

To enter your design, click here.

The shirt can be created on the site by trying out some sample pictures and colors already uploaded, but each contestant can upload his or her designs to the site.

Last year’s winner was Jules Lusk, a current senior at Bellwood-Antis.

The winning t-shirt will be printed and sold by the cheerleading squads of both schools.

The site for creating the t-shirts is up and running. The contest will begin on Wednesday, May 11, and will run till the 25th of May.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges from both the Tyrone and Bellwood communities made up of Heather Alexander, Linda Hershey, Billie Jo Friday, and Kim Kennedy.

The winner of this year’s contest will receive a free back yard brawl t-shirt and various other prizes from both the Tyrone and Bellwood Community.  Winners will be also be recognized in the Tyrone Herald.

The orders will be taken until July 27 and handed out at the Tyrone and Bellwood-Antis “Meet the Eagle/Devil” nights.

Billie Jo Friday, a cheerleading booster form Tyrone who is helping to organize the contest, believes the t-shirt contest is great for both communities.

“I think this brings the two communities together in one common goal and that is to choose the best t-shirt to show our schools pride,” said Friday

Along with showing pride, the contest also is a big fundraiser to help provide the cheerleading squads with what they need to cover the expenses of having a cheer team.

The stage is set, so get out there and create your master piece!
