Coming off of B-A’s first win of the year, the Blue Devils looked to carry some momentum moving forward. B-A traveled to Juniata Valley Monday evening to take on the Hornets. The Blue Devils set a season high in points, but the Hornets’ strong offensive performance proved too much for the Blue Devils.
Bellwood-Antis dropped to 1-19 on the year with a 73-66 final.
The first quarter of play was a dog fight. Juniata Valley pushed 18 across the board. B-A piled up 19 to head to into the second with the lead.
The Hornets then stayed consistent by scoring 18 more in the second. They limited B-A to only 11 points which was all the difference J-V needed. The Hornets headed into the half with a 36-30 advantage.
Juniata Valley shared the love on offense with four double digit scorers. Ronal Chavez led the Hornets with 18 points. Jett Rand followed with 15 of his own. Trenton Norris added 12, and Kyler Spurlin picked up 10 in the win.
The offense continued in the third. B-A was able to cover some ground and score 18 while holding J-V to 16.
Holden Schreier stayed hot and was the Blue Devils lone double digit scorer. Schreier registered 19 following his career high 30 points in their previous game.
“We need to tighten up our defense while continuing to score the ball like we have the last two games,” Schreier said. “We need to bring energy and intensity if we want to win.”
B-A’s defense was ultimately unable to contain the Hornets offense. J-V totaled 21 in the fourth quarter and brought the game to 73-66.
The boys finish out their season Wednesday at home. B-A faces off against Williamsburg at 7:15. The Blue Pirates are currently 12-8 on the year.
