Ed Sheeran releases new album
March 21, 2017
It’s been two years since Ed Sheeran has released a new album but on March 10 he released his new album Divide.
Divide, named like all his other albums using mathematical signs, is different than his last two albums. It is filled with the soft, acoustic, original Ed that landed him on the charts on his first album. It is also filled with the upbeat pop music that this second album was filled with that landed him top of charts for the first time.
While Ed Sheeran comes from a well-off family, it’s safe to say that he has done his fair share of couch surfing. When Sheeran was just a teenager he moved to London to pursue his music and released several early EPs. Sheeran later started to gain fame when he hit No. 1 on the iTunes chart before he even signed with a record label.
The first chart-topper from the new album is “Shape of You.” It is filled with the heavy romantic notes that Sheeran is known for. This album showcases his tremendous musical ability, from his original hip-hop beat to his upbeat pop heartbreak jams. Other to hit songs are “Castle on the Hill” and “Galway Girl,” which are more mellow and soft then the upbeat jams of “New Man,” which is about an ex-girlfriends new lover.
Sheeran has lined up his tour of the this new year with a twist. He decided to create his own band to sing new songs that he wanted to be sang with a group as his opening act.
Sheeran is coming to Pittsburgh on September 26 at the PPG Paints Arena.
