The 8th grade class got a new student this year. Carrsyn Essex, from Forest, Louisiana, moved to Bellwood with his family for the 2017-2018 school year. We had the opportunity to ask Carrsyn a few questions regarding his first few weeks in Bellwood.

Question 1: What brought you and your family to Bellwood?

Answer: My dad got a job here on the pipeline in Altoona, and our family moved up here to be with him because he didn’t want to be alone.

Question 2: What are the biggest differences between Pennsylvania and Louisiana?

Answer: The first thing would be the way people speak. Another difference is Bellwood is more like a city. At my old school, there were woods behind the school and the baseball field. Bellwood’s school is bigger and has a larger variety of classes.

Question 3: What is your favorite thing about the school?

Answer: The classes. They are definitely more interesting, and I don’t feel like I am going to fall asleep, sometimes.

Question 4: Do you have any siblings that go to Bellwood?

Answer: I have an older brother named Matthew in 9th grade and a younger sister named McKenna in 4th grade.

Question 5: What do you miss most about Louisiana?

Answer: I miss the weather, and I also miss the different varieties of food, like gumbo and crawfish.

Welcome to Bellwood, Carrysn. We hope you have a great year!
