Ellen crook was the lone champion from Bellwood-Antis on the second day of the District 6-AA track and field meet at Mansion Park in Altoona on Wednesday.

Ellen placed first in the 800 meter run with the time of 2:21.41 before placing fifth in the 3200 meter run with the time of 11:55.86.

Her performance in the 800 earned her another ticket to the PIAA Championships in Shippensburg next week. She qualified for states with the 1600 meter run the day earlier.

Along with Ellen several other Lady Blue Devils earned places. Salena Damiano placed seventh in shot put with a throw of 34-4 ¾, while the Lady Eagles 4×100 relay team took seventh.

Bailey Swogger qualified for states in her second event, placing third in the 200 meter run.

“I’m happy to go to states. I’ve heard it’s a great memory,” Bailey said.   “I’m happy with my 100 time, but I could’ve done better in the 200.”

As for the Blue Devil track team on Day 2, Alex Bartlett placed fifth in the 3200 meter run with the time of 10:15.50.

The 4×400 relay team for the boys placed fourth and  the 4×100 meter relay and seventh.

The athletes performances yesterday built on a strong showing on Tuesday, before violent rains forced the postponement of the meet.
