Crook Brings Home Medal From PIAA Meet

Senior Medals in 1600, places 11th in 800

Crook placed fifth in the 1600 meters at the PIAA championships as a senior at Bellwood-Antis.

Ellen Crook was the only runner from Bellwood-Antis to place at the PIAA track and field championships on May 23rd and 24th in Shippensburg University.

She medaled by placing fifth in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:07 and 11th in the 800 with a 2:22.9.

“Going in, I just wanted to P-R in my races, but once I made the finals in both the 800 and 1600, I felt pretty good,” said Ellen, who was the top seed in the 1600 heading into the finals.

Doing both the 1600 and 800 definitely drained me. It was a draining weekend but overall I’m happy.

Bailey Swogger placed 22nd in the 100 and 18th in the 200.

The boys 4X800 relay team consisting of Alex Bartlett, Noah D’Angelo, Aaron Mogle, and Kyler Larderi, which won the race at the District 6-AA championships, ran an 8:38 but they did not place.

“The atmosphere was overwhelming, but it was a good experience,” said Aaron.Junior Matt McMillian placed 26th by in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42. 12 but he did not qualify for the finals.

Nick Torsell placed 23rd in javelin but did not qualify for the finals.

“Besides the disappointment of my performance, the experience was once-in-a-lifetime,” said Nick.
