Senior midfielder Alex Taylor is a standout player for the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis co-op soccer team. In its most recent game against Central, Alex scored all three goals for the Eagles.

Alex is the BluePrint’s Athlete of the Week.

The Eagles have been in a slump to start the 2020 season, dropping three straight games, but this doesn’t stop Alex from having solid performances and being a leader for the team.

Alex is confident the team will turn it around as the season progresses.

“We’ve yet to reach our potential,” said Taylor. “We have to keep the ball as a team and limit mistakes in the back.”

Alex looks to keep the team focused and motivated as the season goes on. If the Eagles can clean up some minor errors, they can grow to be a dangerous team down the stretch.

“Alex is a consistent leader for our team that excels in every situation we put him in,” said Coach Alex Bartlett. “He’s a completely different player than last year and we are really excited to have him contribute in a big way.”

The definition of a student-athlete, Alex is an exceptional student who’s able to manage the load of honors classes as well as his sports. In addition to soccer, Alex wrestles for Bellwood during the winter season. In his junior year, he finished top 12 in the state, going 2-2 in Hershey.

As the fall sports season continues, it will be exciting to see how the season plays out for the Eagles.
