Baseball team edged by Juniata Valley

BA vs. Mount Union; March 30, 2021. (Emalee Strong)

The BA baseball team took the field on Tuesday night at Juniata Valley with hopes of keeping themselves in contention for the ICC crown.

The last time these two teams went at it the Hornets routed Bellwood. The Devils were determined to not let that happen again.

It was a battle to the end, but Juniata Valley came out victorious, winning 8-6.

The Blue Devils started out on fire, scoring 6 runs in the first two innings. The Devils cooled off after that, failing to score the rest of the game.

A Juniata Valley homerun in the bottom of the 4th gave the Hornets their first lead of the game. JV then went on to add another run in the 5th to grow their lead to 8-6.

Bellwood had a shot in the top of the 7th inning to mount a comeback, but the Hornets sent the Devil batters down 1,2,3.

BA only managed to put together 4 hits as a team and committed 4 errors in the field.

Bellwood now drops to an 8-6 record. Their next matchup will be at home against Glendale.

Good luck to the baseball team.
