Lydia Worthing is a key contributor to this year’s Volleyball team

The 2021 Lady Blue Devils volleyball team is off to a historic start with a 5-0 record and a big win on Tuesday night over ICC power Glendale. Thanks to her dominant performance on the court, junior Lydia Worthing has been chosen as our Athlete of the Week by the BluePrint.

Worthing has been instrumental to this year’s squad, leading the team with 25 blocks, 47 points, 19 aces, and 67 kills.

The team travels to West Branch tonight in a marquee matchup that will most likely decide the top dog this year in the ICC. When asked about the key matchup, Worthing was very optimistic.

“I think the team is feeling pretty confident,” she said. “We don’t wanna get cocky because its West Branch. They’re very good, but we are excited to go out and play our game.”

Lydia’s goals for the team this year is to win the ICC title, and to simply win games. When asked about personal goals, Lydia stated, “My personal goal is to make sure win or lose me and my teammates leave games knowing we did our best.”

Lydia also plays basketball and does track for the Lady Blue Devils, where she is also an important member of both squads. Worthing won a 2021 District 6 title in the Pole Vault event and hopes to have successful seasons once again this year in both track  and basketball.
