Baseball team picks up first win of season
Last night the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devil baseball team hosted ICC foe Claysburg-Kimmel. Bellwood was able to pick up their first victory of the season in dominant fashion beating Claysburg by a score of 17-2.
After a quiet first winning seeing Bellwood lead 1-0, Bellwood’s offense caught fire in the second inning. Bellwood’s 8 run second inning in the was due in large to senior Jack Luensmann hitting a grand slam. This big inning saw Bellwood take a commanding 9-0 lead.
The Blue Devils were able to build on their lead in the 3rd and 4th innings, and were able to close out the game in just four innings picking up their first win of the season.
To go along with his grand slam, Jack Luensamann added in a double and a single. Not only did Jack have a good day at the plate, he also pitched all 4 innings for the Blue Devils giving up 2 runs on just 4 hits.
The baseball team saw multiple standouts from the plate, with the team combing for a total of 19 hits. A couple major contributors to this mark included Gaven Ridgway and Josh Dorminy both going 3-3 at the plate, and Cooper Guyer going 2-3 with a two-run homerun.
The Blue Devils will look to build on their win tonight, when they host the Glendale Vikings.
