Generation Zero is a challenging game for survival game enthusiasts.

Generation Zero is an alternate version of Sweden in 1989 where you desperately fight against forgein killer robots. You must scavenge for ammunition and weaponry to combat these robots. The game was released in early 2019 and has been free to all Xbox game pass holders since November 30th, 2021. If you complete all missions for the base game you may be interested in the DLC’s offered.

Graphics

To run these games you will need an 8th generation gaming console or higher. If you are on PC, specs at bare minimum according to the Generation Zero website include, “OS: 64bit – Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Processor: Intel i5 Quad Core, Memory: 8 GB RAM, Graphics: nVidia GTX 660 / ATI HD7870 – 2 GB VRAM / Intel Iris Pro, Graphics 580, Storage: 35 GB available space.”

Replay-ability

Due to the game’s open map and roaming system enemies will continue to respawn, therefore the game will never end. This paired with the new Landfall update, enemies, and rare weapons you will spend countless hours searching for the best gear in Generation Zero.

Environment & Gameplay

The game features an extremely large map with an interactive environment and effects. These include explosive rounds, overdrive, trip rounds and shock rounds. All rare ammunition types are used in experimentals. Weapons have a slight bullet drop and a high recoil standard. Movement is vital to avoid incoming enemy fire, but very difficult. This game has a massive skill gap compensated by time spent in game learning tactics.

Update Basis & servers

Generation Zero has introduced one of their largest updates yet as of early this February, showing off the Landfall Update. This update included new enemy forces who not only attack you, but other killer robots as well. Generation Zero has serious server issues making it hard to play with your friends. Playing console you will often get home screened, Although this problem isn’t as relevant on PC.

I would give this game a 7/10. The game is solid, with good graphics, storyline and design. Problem being the server issues limit the player base and replayability.
