Bellwood-Antis High School recently welcomed a new addition to the staff, Mr. Bateman. He has taken over the role as the new shop teacher, replacing Mr. Crowell, who retired last spring after an impressive 35 years of teaching.
Mr. Bateman is now the teacher of Industrial Arts I, II, III, and Drivers Ed.
Outside of the classroom, Mr. Bateman enjoys all outdoor activities and anything that involves going outside. Activities like hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking are some of his favorites. Not only does he like to go outdoors, but Mr. Bateman enjoys spending time with his three young kids. He has two boys, who are five and six, and a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
With eleven years of teaching experience, Mr. Bateman has the knowledge and the expertise to do extremely well here.
He decided to come to Bellwood because “[he has] heard nothing but great things about this school and community. [He] want[s] to be a part of an organization as well known as this one.”
As well as teaching, Mr. Bateman hopes to actively help out and be a part of Bellwood’s sporting events.
Mr. Bateman loves to teach, and he says that the most fun thing about it is interacting and encouraging his students to work with their hands. Also, he believes that the spark a student gets when they are working on a project that they really enjoy is one of the most important things to him.
Mr. Bateman’s prestigious education has come from California University and Arkansas State University, which are both widely renowned colleges.
In his first two weeks at Bellwood, he says that it has been great. He describes it as, “very inviting, supportive, and encouraging.”
We welcome Mr. Bateman to Bellwood, and we are looking forward to witnessing his contributions to the school.
