Alexis joined the Army National Guard!

Senior Alexis Schratzmeier recently took on the task of completing basic training and joining the Army National Guard.

She originally enlisted and joined the military on January 27, 2023, and she graduated basic training on August 25, 2023.

Alexis’s decision to enlist was a practical one.

“I thought it would lead lead me in a good direction, and then I would also get school benefits such as full paid tuition for a 4-year college.”

“They always told us to be a tennis ball not an egg.”

— Alexis Schratzmeier

Alexis completed basic in Fort Sill, OK. Her MOS will be a logistics specialist.

“It was tough because I had never been away from my family that long before,” she said.

Her plans after the military are to retire at a young age, get a small civilian job, and live out the rest of her life.

Alexis describes basic training as “an experience to never forget. The tasks that were given tested us not only physically but mentally as well.”

Outside of school, Alexis participates in dance most of the week, but in her free time she watches movies and shows.
