Alyssa will be attending Duquesne University in the fall of 2024.

Senior, Alyssa Mills, will be spending her college years at Duquesne University, beginning next fall. The private research university is located in the heart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Alyssa plans to partake in the pharmacy program, which remains near the top of the Catholic pharmacy school rankings.

“I chose [pharmacy] because it’s a good field to get into to help people. It is also in demand, so it shouldn’t be hard to get a job after I graduate,” she mentioned.

Duquesne’s location is in a “really nice area” and Alyssa looks forward to being near Pittsburgh’s sports stadiums and arenas.

Although city-life differs from Bellwood’s rural town, she is optimistic about the transition.

“I’m a little worried about the change into a big city, but it isn’t that big of a university,” Alyssa said. “I’m also excited to see a more diverse environment.”

Alyssa never had a dream school, but as soon as she toured the campus, she felt accepted. The school checked off two of her must-haves, which were being in-state and staying relatively close to home. She quickly realized that Duquesne was the college for her, and it all fell into place from there.

She liked how there are “tons” of clubs to choose from and that the campus was safe.

Good luck at Duquesne, Alyssa!
