The verdict is in, and the Bellwood-Antis Mock Trial team is ready for its trials in February.
The Mock Trial team will compete on February 1 and February 22.
Mock Trial is a competition in which students simulate a real trial. The trial concerns an official AMTA case that remains the same through the entire academic year.
The advisor of Bellwood-Antis Mock Trial team is Mr. Gary Rhone.
This year’s mock trial case is the State of Pennsylvania vs Addison Booker. Booker is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He was in a nasty competition with Geoffery Esper who was murdered. The evidence seemingly points to Mr. Booker was conspiring with Randy Sudo, a local handyman and ex-con to kill his business rival.
“But, does other evidence point to another subject? Is Addison Booker being framed by another rival, Sam Chestnut? Did the police fail to investigate properly? These are all questions the Bellwood Antis Mock Trial Team must solve this year. They will have two trials, one time as the prosecution and then another trial as the defense,” Mr. Rhone said.
Mock Trial team members include: Abbygail Laird, Noah Gulvas, Ian Clark, Eric Johnson, Julia Johnson, Noah Corklic, Dokota Corle, Luke Gurekovich, Emily Zacker, Derek Stivers, Abigail Eckenrod, Trinity Maines, Julie Kraft, Lilliana Hardman, Kate Binachni.
President: Abigail Eckenrod
Vice President: Emily Zacker
Treasurer: Derek Stivers
Secretary: Trinity Maines
“The majority of students are new this year. We have 15 students, with 11 on the law team,” Mr. Rhone said.
