Kimberly Bennett stars as Mrs. MacAfee in the up-coming spring production!

In the up-and-coming musical production of Bye Bye Birdie this spring, Kimberly Bennett will star as Mrs. MacAfee! In the show, Mrs. MacAfee is Kim MacAfee’s mother, who’s played by senior Annie LeGrand. Mrs. MacAfee is a funny, kind woman who welcomes Conrad Birdie into her home and makes sure the people in New York know that in Ohio, they know how to treat a national figure.

We asked her a few questions about her musical journey and what she’s looking forward to most:

Blueprint: What is your role in the musical?

Kimmy: Mrs. MacAfee

Blueprint: Why did you choose to participate?

Kimmy: I chose to participate because I have been preforming on the stage for years and have always had a passion for it.

Blueprint: What is your favorite thing about being in the musical?

Kimmy: The relationships and family that you build through it.

Blueprint: Have you participated in previous musicals before?

Kimmy: Yes, High School Musical, Grease, and Charlie Brown which was ended due to COVID.

Blueprint: What can the audience expect from this performance of Bye Bye Birdie?

Kimmy: They can expect a fun and light hearted musical that will make everyone laugh.

Blueprint: Did you know about Bye Bye Birdie before the musical was decided upon?

Kimmy: I had looked into it, but not much before it was decided.

Blueprint: Who do you think the audience’s favorite character will be and why?

Kimmy: Mae Peterson, Albert’s mother. She is a super funny and outgoing character.

Blueprint: Give us your best pitch on why people should come see the musical.

Kimmy: It’s such a fun and crazy musical you won’t want to miss it. Plus, it will only be performed for a weekend, so why not come see this limited time event? It’s sure to make you laugh!

Congratulations Kimmy! We can’t wait to see the production!
