The newest BluePrint Athlete of the week is senior Kole Dickinson.
Kole emerged as a star for the track team last season. He takes part in the 110m and 300m hurdles, as well as the 1600m relay. This season he will look to keep building upon his success.
Last season, Kole Dickinson took home gold as the only gold medal winner for the Bellwood boys in the ICC Invitational. He earned gold in the 110m hurdles, and also had a third place finish in the 300m hurdles.
His best time from last year was 16.02 seconds in the 110m hurdles and 42 seconds in the 300m hurdles. He has high hopes for this season, as he hopes to get his 110 time down to the 15’s. Other goals include to place at the LHAC championship, place top 3 at districts and qualify for states, and attempt to beat the school record set by Hunter Shawley in the 300m hurdles.
Kole first joined the track team his sophomore year.
“After my freshman year of baseball, I decided it wasn’t for me and I wanted to try something new that I could be good at,” he said.
In the offseason in order get prepared for track, Kole goes to the preseason track workouts, and plays basketball for the school. His conditioning from basketball and the preseason workouts helped him stay shape and ready for the track season.
Kole enjoys all aspects of track.
“The social aspect is by far my favorite, but I also enjoy the competitiveness of it too,” he said. “I like how track is more individual and it’s up to you whether or not you want to get better.”
Congratulations to Kole, and good luck on your season!
