The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis soccer teams are getting hot when it matters most.
After defeating Bishop Carroll at home last night in a double-header in Tyrone, both teams are on winning streaks with the playoffs around the corner.
The boys played first and started off the day beating Bishop Carroll 2-1.
Bellwood sophomore Ned Smearman scored the game winning goal. The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis team moves to 5-5 on the year and won 3/5 games battle it for the 3rd seed.
The Lady’s Eagles, meanwhile, have won there two out of three games to boost their record to 2-6-1. They ended of the day yesterday by beating Bishop Carroll in the nightcap 4-0.
The team received goals from a pair of Bellwood-Antis athletes in freshman Maya Plummer and senior Riley Campbell. Tyrone’s Cadence Berry and Olivia Newlin had the other tallies.
The boys are currently fourth in 3A, just behind Central Mountain. Anything close to a .500 record should get them in the postseason.
The girls are also fourth but have some work to do to get their record in line for a playoff bid.
