The Bellwood-Antis boys basketball team has struggled to find consistent offense this season, and it’s a major factor in the Devils’ winless record.
The streak continued late last week and into this week with a pair of sub-30-point performances in losses.
On Monday, the boys faced off against Central. Early on B-A kept the game tight but ultimately fell behind in the second quarter. The Blue Devils went on to lose 59-29.
The first quarter ended with a 12-12 tie. The Dragons soon found some momentum on offense and bounced back with 21 points in the second quarter. This brought the game to 33-17 at the half.
Sophomore Jackson Dorminy led the B-A scoring. He hit three three-pointers and registered 13 points on the night. The rest of the offense was silenced by the Dragons defense.
Central continued their trend in the second half. The Dragons were able to add 17 more points in the third to bring the total to 50-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
Central had three double-digit scorers. Christian Heuston pieced together 14 points. Eli Muthler followed with 12 of his own. Jesse Muthler added 10 more to their total.
The Dragons registered nine points in the fourth quarter, and kept the Blue Devils to just 12 points in the second half bringing the final to 59-29
B-A now travels to Tyrone Friday night at 7:15. The Eagles are currently 8-2 on the year.
B-A falls to Bison
A similar fate befell the Devils Friday at Clearfield. B-A couldn’t get anything going on offense and struggled to defend the Bison’s offensive attack in a 61-35 loss.
The Bison were able to get out to an early 16 point lead in the first quarter. Clearfield’s offensive surge continued the rest of the night, with 14 plus points in all but one quarter.
Junior Braison Patrick dropped 24 for the Bison. Jake Rumfola tacked on 13 Friday.
The Blue Devils limited offense had Connor Mayes and Jackson Dorminy with eight points.
