A long awaited week has approaching fast: Mini-THON week!
Many events are planned leading up to the event, which raises money for the Four Diamonds and its battle against childhood cancer.
On Wednesday, February 12, teachers had a jeans day, with each teacher paying $5 to dress down.
Following that, the Mini-THON committee is holding its second Stall Day on Thursday.
On Stall-Day every student and teacher will transfer from homeroom to first period. At the beginning of first period, teachers will be required to count all the change that students bring in. The amount of change students bring in determines how long classes will be stalled for.
Classes will then resume once every teacher has completed counting their change.
Mini-THON advisor Mr. Hallahan has set some predictions on how much money he believes students will bring in. He believes the high school will bring in a little over $400, the middle school will bring in over $600, and he believes Myers Elementary school will bring in over $1,000. All the money made from stall day will go directly towards the Mini-THON account, as well as the overall goal that is set.
The time that it takes for teachers to count the change depends on how much the students bring in, but in recent years it has taken the Mini-THON team close to 6 hours to count the total amount of change before depositing it into the Mini-THON account.
When asked how big of a part Stall-Day plays towards mini thon, Mr.Hallahan said, “Stall-Day plays a huge part towards Mini-THON. With it being so close to Mini-THON, this event is like our last big push to try and achieve our money goal.”
Stall-Day will be the last big event before Mini-THON on February 28th.
