Golden Eagles Heartbreaking First Loss
At the start of the 2025 season, the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis soccer team was on a hot start, opening their season 4-0, and the boys had high hopes of playing their game against rival Hollidaysburg a long anticipated match.
The Eagles learned they still have some “little details” to address in a 3-1 loss at Tigers Stadium.
In the first half of the game, the Golden Eagles’ defense was working extremely hard and strong, keeping the score 0-0.
“We battled the whole game, controlling most of the first half. In big games like that, the little mistakes mean a lot,” said Coach Alex Bartlett. “We made a couple that cost us.”
In the second half, Hollidaysburg scored early and gave the Eagles a deficit to work on.
Later, Tyrone sophomore Gavin Tuskovich won a penalty, which resulted a goal by Tyrone junior Grant Miller to tie it.
But as time ran down, Hollidaysburg scored another goal, putting the Tigers ahead.
Shortly after that, Hollidaysburg scored what was ultimately the game-winning goal, making it 3-1.
With 1:30 left, Tuskovich scored a goal to pull Tyrone/B-A within 1, but there wasn’t enough time to complete the comeback.
“A loss is always tough,” stated B-A junior Noah Gulvas. “But we held our own and played our game. We fought until the end of the game. We knew who we were up against and had great moments but it came down to little details that gave us the loss. This game once again showed how much heart this team has and it will carry with us throughout he rest of the season.”
The Golden Eagles next game September 11 they take on the Bison at Clearfield (0-5)
With this loss the Eagles sit third in the Laurel Highlands Conference (4-1-0).
Lady Eagles Devastating Loss
The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis Lady Eagles suffer their third loss of the season Monday, falling to the Hollidaysburg Lady Tigers 5-0.
The loss makes the Lady Eagles 1-3-1, sitting at tenth in the Laurel Highlands
The Lady Eagles were missing key player Marissa Cacciotti, and later in the second half they lost junior Sarah Chichester.
“We started the game off strong,” stated Tyrone sophomore Kadence Berry, “but as time went on our confidence faded. With players missing and confidence low, we didn’t preform at our best, but we’re determined to bounce back next game.”
