Make a wish
Almost everyone knows about the Make-A-Wish foundation, right? (Here’s the website in case you don’t) Do you know how it came about? Seven year old Chris Greicius, a Leukaemia sufferer, is the entire reason we have this foundation.
It was his wish to become a police officer and when the police heard about this, they wanted to help. April 29th 1980, they showed up and let him be an officer for the day.
And when this news got around? Everyone thought it was an amazing idea and they jumped on board. And now we have World Wish Day.
I mean, come on. Making a dream come true for a sick child? Doesn’t it just warm your heart to think about putting a smile on their face?
Though some wishes are… extreme, others are simple like wishing for a chance to slide down a slide.
And even better? Some wishes are to help others.
This is a case where age doesn’t matter. Lauren, a four year old, wishes to give back comfort and hope to the people around her. Her wish was to give. She is four.
“I’ve always said ‘when I grow up, I want to be like Lauren, I can only hope.” –Lauren’s mom
And I’m sure you know about Batkid, don’t you? Miles Scott’s story went viral. His wish? To be Batman. So what happened? They shut down some streets in San Francisco, picked Batkid up in a batmobile, and then he was off to save the city, “Gotham”.
It’s amazing what some people with the same plan can pull together. When these wishes come true, no matter how big or small, it never fails to put a smile on not only the childs’ face, but everyone around them.
