As the holiday season approaches, everyone knows that when the “big man” from the North Pole travels the world on Christmas Eve, he has buckets of coal for the “bad” children who have not be behaving too well the last year.
But Mr. Claus is fearing that coal is getting too expensive to purchase, with costs in Pennsylvania averaging about $365 per ton of quality hard coal.
Following Santa Claus via the NORAD Santa Tracker, it appears that last year Santa stopped and loaded up his sleigh with coal in each state that he visited, but this year’s expected increase of weight for the Christmas-magic-powered sled and the impact on his wallet is leading Santa to think otherwise about giving the growing number of naughty children coal.
As a replacement for coal, the team of North Pole Enterprises expressed interest for giving naughty children reindeer food, which do to a shipment error, they have a 13-year supply of, or cane-shavings from the cutting and timbering of the Candy Cane Forest that has been taking place to give the organization more profits this season. The number of naughty children is expected to increase this year, pending Santa’s second review of his list.

This year has been quite the tough year for North Pole Enterprises as 20% tariffs were slapped on the North Pole by the United States this past summer, leading to limited profits for the Big Man and his elf team. With elf wages seeing a drop, Santa was also panicked about toy availability this Christmas, but he believes that all things considered, the biggest holiday of the year will go on as scheduled.
