The world thought Five Nights at Freddy’s was over. The story was (partially) complete. The lore became known. The game’s creator became quiet. But, 14 months after Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, the next step for the series was released.

Some may wonder, at this point in the series, why more? Why have one more game? Why play the same game over and over again? And therein lies the rub.

New is hardly a strong enough word to describe Sister Location. This game blows all its predecessors out of the water. Scott Cawthon, the mastermind behind Five Nights at Freddy’s has entirely redone this game from the ground up… in more than one way.

Unlike the previous games, this game has actual free-roam abilities. Instead of sitting at a security desk the entire game, the player has more freedom to move around, and it is what drives the story. The main character is a type of mechanic for these new animatronics, and must go down to their storage facility and perform some fixes and such. The animatronics, in addition, are also revamped. Freddy and foxy are back in new “Funtime” versions, but we are also introduced to several new characters, such as Ballora, a dancing ballerina, as well as Baby, a girly clown. These new animatronics have their own weaknesses and strengths, which actually adds some variety to the game. When encountering them, it is truly enjoyable to be able to discover they have different personalities and different ways to defeat them, rather than the previous games, in which all animatronics practically act the same. Scott also added real voices to the game! This is new to previous games, and the dialog inputted really drives the story and the freshness of this new feature is amazing.

The lore of this game is also very controversial and is extremely important to the franchise. A lot is introduced and a lot of pieces can be put together.

All in all, this game is a remarkable piece of work and I would definitely recommend this. As usual, if you like horror, jump scares, and lore, I would recommend this game to you.
