Golden Eagles take down the Blue Devils
The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devil wrestling team went up against rival Tyrone Golden Eagles last night at home, but couldn’t quite get it done.
The final score was a Tyrone victory of 51-21, and the Blue Devils once again gave up points by not filling out the weight classes, surrendering four matches by forfeit.
Some Blue Devil wrestlers stood out though. Senior Jeremy Wilson (182), junior Nate Claar (152), and sophomore (195) Ryan Kerns all won by a fall. Senior Caleb Knisely (160) won by a decision of 8-5.
Zack Mock lost a close match to Nick Getz at 170 (9-6) and Josh Wilson led in his match against Ty Snyder at 145 before being caught for the pin.
Claar was pumped up and had some positive thoughts about the match.
He said, “It was pretty exciting seeing the gym packed and all the fans screaming. I feel overall we wrestled decent but we have work to do.”
Nate was excited after he won his match and he sure was celebrating. He said, “I was all pumped up after the fall.”
Claar also provided some advice for the team. He said, “We need to work harder and wrestle a lot more matches. We have some inexperienced kids who could be decent if they got a lot more mat time.”
The Blue Devils overall season record is 1-14.
