Blue Devil boys basketball team avenges loss to Trojans
Boys basketball team avenges a loss and picks up eighth straight win
Last night the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devil boys’ basketball team faced off against the Mount Union Trojans at home.
After losing to the Trojans January 9, the Blue Devils were determined to come back and show what they were made of.
Despite a tough start, trailing 10-2 early, the Blue Devils came out on top with a 60-49 victory for their 8th straight win.
Junior Nathan Davis once again showed he’s all about basketball by leading the team with 30 points. He also managed to grab 8 rebounds.
Sophomores Ethan McGee and Joey Padula also helped by scoring 9 points each.
The Blue Devils have a lot of confidence in themselves and that is getting them far.
“We are playing extremely well right now. We’re hitting shots and getting plenty of shots on defense,” said Davis. “It’s really going well, no one thought we could make the league championship, much less the playoffs with a high seed. We just need to keep it rolling right now.”
Burch agreed: “Last night was a very good win, and we need to finish the week strong to get to the ICC championship. Williamsburg is a good team and we need to finish them early.”
Towards the end of the game, the Blue Devils found themselves only 5 points ahead of the Trojans.
With 1:17 left in the game, Davis found Noah D’Angelo on the left wing, and he netted a critical 3 pointer, giving the Blue Devils an 8-point advantage.
The Blue Devils must win one of their final two ICC North tilts to claim the division.
The Blue Devils are now 14-5 overall.
