Today is the volleyball Backyard Brawl in Tyrone featuring Bellwood-Antis and Tyrone.
This is always a big match up in any sport.
The records between these two teams are pretty far apart with Bellwood at 10-5 and Tyrone 6-8. Tyrone is looking to get to a .500 record before the end of the season, and the Lady Devils are looking to win this game and the remainder of their schedule.
B-A is looking good in the playoffs rankings and is in 6th right now in 2A, right behind Bald Eagle Area (11-3) and in front Philipsburg (9-5). However, Tyrone is 15th behind Cambria Heights (8-7) and in front of River Valley (4-11).
If the Lady Devils are going into a big game, they will have to rely on their big players. Senior Andy Turek leads the teams in kills with 206, and Blocks with 67. Senior Ava Patton leads the team with the most Diggs with 172, and senior Johanna Heckman has 111. Senior Ava Hassler leads with the most assists on the team with 326.
The junior varsity game begins at 6 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7:15 at the Tyrone Area Middle School.
