After a disappointing 2023 season, the Blue Devil football team worked harder than ever to improve in the weight room and on the field. B-A bounced back strong and found itself in the District 6 semifinals, where they ended their season with an 8-4 record.
With all the recent success on the gridiron, it is easy to overlook their accomplishments in the classroom that followed.
PA Football News recently released the 2024-25 All-Academic teams. Bellwood-Antis had 36 total athletes represented on the teams. Twenty-five team members were named to the Gold Team. Members of the All-Academic Gold Team had to maintain a GPA of 4.0 and higher during the 2024 season.
The list included Alex McCartney, Brady Crist, Bradyn Partner, Brendan McNelis, Brody Yohn, Cayden Pellegrine, Chase Plummer, Colin Gibbons, Cooper Lovrich, Curtis Shedlock, Ethan Sharff, Ethan Shawley, Gabriel Alley, Holden Schreier, Jackson Grassmyer, Jayce Quick, Karter McCloskey, Landon Sneath, Logan Ridgway, Owen Stoltzfus, Reid Schreier, Sam Moser, Thad Norton, Tristan Mock, and Tristin Riva.
The Blue Devils also had five players on the All-Academic Silver team. These players competed in the 2024 season with a GPA between 3.5-3.99.
Cayden Grager, Dylan Eckenrod, Griffin Kyle, Jeffrey Waite, and Mason Ott were all represented on this team.
B-A had six more athletes on the All-Academic Bronze team. This team included all athletes who participated with a GPA of 3.0-3.49 during the 2024 season.
Brady Hostler, Bryson Hescox, Christian Jennings, Hunter Kyle, Nate Brennan, and Quinn Focht were all selected to this team.
This is the best showing Coach Nick Lovrich could recall in his eight seasons as head coach, with the large majority of players making an all-academic team.
“It shows that all the work that our kids put in in football carries over to the classroom also,” Coach Lovrich said. “It’s important for student athletes to be able to balance school and sports, and our kids do just that by working hard and getting good grades.”
