The Bellwood-Antis track teams traveled to United High School for the annual Bill Wilt Memorial Invitational on Saturday. Several athletes for both the boys and girls teams ended up placing in their events.
The girls’ team won their meet while the boys finished in a close second, falling just short to United.
Winning is nothing new for the Lady Devils, who are in the midst of a widely successful team by any number of measures.
Standout performers for the Blue Devils were junior Jayce Quick, as well as seniors Cayden Pellegrine and Holden Schreier. Quick won the shot put and the discus. He threw for a distance of 43-0.25 in shot put, and threw 127-8 in the discus event. Pellegrine got first place in javelin, with his throw of 147-3. Schreier won the 400m dash, running an impressive time of 52.78.
The Lady Blue Devils also had multiple winners on Saturday. Sophomore Avey Powers won both the 100m hurdles and long jump. Powers ran a 17.5 in the hurdles. In long jump, she had a jump of 14-3.25. Sophomore Blake Pennington placed first in the 1600m run with her time of 5:46.02. For the field events, Emma Taneyhill got first place in discus, with a throw of 97-4. The Bellwood-Antis girls won the 400m relay and the 1600m relay.
Other athletes from B-A that placed in their events are Owen Stoltzfus, Ethan Shapley, Martin Fatzinger, Mcalley Corle, Bryce Hollenbach, Dominick Halerz, Cameron Nelson, Braylon Litzinger, Colin Gibbons, Jeffrey Waite, Addison Pluebell, Scotlyn Hassler, Avah Hassler, Lilly Gerwert, Brylee Hewitt, Olivia Rishel, and Ava Worthing.
Bellwood-Antis will have their next meet on Thursday. They will go against Philipsburg-Osceola and Central. The meet will start at 11 A.M. and be held at PO.
