Girls Soccer Pick Up Memorable Second Win Against Sommerset
The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis girls’ varsity soccer team picked up its second victory last week against Somerset, winning 2-1.
Going into the game the expectations were high, as the girls were confident in picking up the win.
In the first half, the Lady Eagles played strong defense and held Somerset to a 0-0 draw by halftime. They broke things open in the second half with a score from Tyrone junior Allie Blaska and followed it up not too much later with one from Tyrone sophomore Kadence Berry.
The Lady Eagles now stand at 2-6-1 and their next game is September 30 at Harry K. Sickler Jr. Athletic Park.
Boys Soccer Drops Two Losses
The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis boys soccer team lost their past two games in heartbreaking form.
The Eagles fell in their game against Somerset 1-0 in a battle of defense. The Somerset boys were ranked 2 in the Laurel Highlands at the time, with the Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis boys ranked 3.
Last night the team dropped a road game against Bald Eagle Area with a 2-1 loss.
Tyrone sophomore Karter Bokulich scored Tyrone’s only goal, and the boys now stand at 8-3-0. They are now ranked 5 in the Laurel Highlands Conference, just under Westmont Hilltop, who is ranked 4 with a record of 7-1-1
The Eagles next play October 1, vs Bellefonte at Harry K. Sickler Jr. Athletic Park. The Raiders are 10-1.
