Jarrett Taneyhill has had a monster start to 2016, building off a strong junior season.

At last week’s Backyard Brawl, Jarrett Taneyhill completed 13 out of 27 passes, which translated into 240 yards and a touchdown.

Not bad for his first start in central Pennsylvania’s biggest rivalry.

For his efforts he was awarded the BluePrint’s Athlete of the Week.

Jarrett plays football and basketball, and track and field, and is involved in FCA and BluePrint.

Jarrett has been playing organized football since he was seven years old.

“My dad and I have been playing in the back yard way before that,” he said.

Jarrett, who is also a starter on the basketball team, doesn’t score a lot of points on the court, but he does whatever the teams needs from him to win.

An obvious team player, he enjoys playing football because it is such a team-oriented sport.

“I like that it is a true team sport. In order to be successful everyone has to do their job,” said Jarrett.

Along with basketball and football, Jarrett has the potential to compete for a district title in track and field throwing the javelin. A three sport athlete, Jarrett enjoys all the sports he plays.

“All three are great sports and it is awesome to be able to play them. If I had to pick I would probably choose basketball, but it’s a tough decision,” he said.

To cap off his Athlete of the Week honor, Jarrett torched Glendale Friday for three touchdowns in a 48-7 Blue Devil victory.
