Teaching science classes appeal to some but not all, but Mr. Carr makes chemistry educational yet surprising.
Mr. Carr teaches Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and AP Chemistry. Coming up this will mark four years since he has started teaching at Bellwood-Antis.
Teaching can approach in many ways but an ideal approach is to create bonds with students. Making students feel welcomed highlights a stable school year.
“I enjoy building relationships with the students,” Mr. Carr stated, “I enjoy conversations with them and attending school events.”
There’s evolving curriculum in Chemistry and yet, it strikes engagement considering the moving criteria.
After Christmas break is a blur shadowing the first half of the school year, “January to March is a dreary year,” he says, “not really school or teaching relates, just cold and not nice weather.”
Overall, Mr. Carr demonstrates an enduring pathway to learning chemistry so why did he choose to teach?
For Mr. Carr, it was the teacher who taught him chemistry in high school who was “well respected and an inspiring person,” he says.
“I also wanted to teach to be able to give back to the community,” he continued “and help students build a strong knowledge base before moving off to the real world.”
Aside from teaching Mr. Carr has a few hobbies that occupy his time outside of school like traveling, gaming, roller skating, and hiking.
