Shawn Wolfe had almost 200 yards of total offense against Tyrone.

They say the best athletes rise to the occasion, and our Blueprint Athlete of the Week, Shawn Wolfe, certainly did last Friday night against Bellwood-Antis’ arch-rival Tyrone in the annual Backyard Brawl.

Wolfe, Bellwood-Antis’ junior quarterback, threw for seven receptions, gaining 102 yards, and rushed for 95 yards. Wolfe, most impressively, scored the game’s winning touchdown in overtime to with the game 13-10.

Describing himself as a “run-threat quarterback” who has the confidence to throw, Wolfe proved to be both, and in a slow game on both sides, he did it well.

Wolfe even out-paced his own expectations.

I feel I played better than what I thought I would for my first varsity game in my career.

“I feel I played better than what I thought I would for my first varsity game in my career,” Wolfe explained.

Although Wolfe finished the game strong with the winning touchdown, the game didn’t start so good for the young quarterback.

“I was definitely nervous before the game, and it showed when I fum

bled the ball on the first play,” recalled Wolfe.

Although there was an error early in the game, the junior continued to play on. Wolfe said he calmed down and began to “play the game the way he plays it.”

As seen last Friday night, when Shawn Wolfe can play his game, it’s a benefit and a game-breaker for the 2017 Blue Devil squad.
