Angela Wheeler, the 2014 Valedictorian, practices at the podium in the high school auditorium, while Salutatorian Miranda Lowery waits her turn. The two will deliver their addresses to the Class of 2014 at Commencement on June 5.

The big day is coming up for the seniors, graduation! It is held on Thursday June 5th, 2014. Seniors won’t know until the day before or day of if graduation is inside in the auditorium or outside at Memorial Stadium.

Seniors will practice inside and outside so they are prepared for what is going to happen.

Mrs. Hartsock said, “I am planning a senior recognition for all the students’ achievements, to announce the seniors, and handing out diplomas.”

The commencement speakers are Valedictorian Angela Wheeler and Salutatorian Miranda Lowery.

Angela said, “It was difficult coming up with the speech because it is different than any other speech.” She also said, “I’m a little nervous but I figured by the time I give the speech I’ll be okay.”

The guest speaker is Douglas Lingenfelter, BAHS Class of 1996, who is currently a master police officer in Virginia.  He graduated at Penn State in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Administration of Justice and a Minor in History. He graduated from the Fairfax County Criminal Justice Academy in 2001.

After graduation from the FCCJA he was assigned to the West Springfield District Station in Springfield, VA patrol division. He was later assigned to Headquarters and worked in the Public Information Office where he was a spokesperson for the department and prepared news releases and spoke to the media concerning events. He then returned to patrol after completion of that assignment. He spent several years on the department’s Honor Guard.

Lingenfelter is now a master police officer at the Fairfax County Police Department.
