ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Nick Plank
Hard work, guts, and the all around ability to be a beast … these are some of the many characteristics that it takes to be a part of the Bellwood-Antis football dynasty. Junior, Nick Plank fits all of these standards.
Nick’s junior season has been one to remember, with 651 rushing yards on only 79 carries for the Blue devils.
Last week against West Branch Nick racked up 239 yards and 3 touchdowns in the 50-14 win.
The Blue Print has named Nick Plank Athlete of the Week for his efforts in last week’s win.
Nick has been a “go-to” player for the past two years for the Blue Devils. Last year Nick was the starting middle linebacker for the Blue Devils, and occasionally would rotate into the fullack position on offense.
This year Nick is a key offensive and defensive player and basically never leaves the field. On offense Nick always finds a way to power through the line and get the first down.
“It always feels good to be trusted with getting the ball and being able to get quality yards for the team,” said Nick.
Even in the off-season Nick continues to strive to make himself better. In this past off-season Nick worked out at Fred Dormans gym, which is a common place for athletes from Bellwood to train.
Football isn’t the only sport that Nick dominates; he is also a beast on the baseball field, from his freshman year when he lead the team in batting percentage, to this past year when he was awarded the title of ICC All-Star.
We wish Nick and the Blue Devils the best of luck with the rest of their season as they hope to put yet another successful season into the books.
