Blue Devils lose heart-breaker to undefeated Mount Union

B-A couldn’t hold a 7-0 halftime lead in the ICC showdown at Memorial Field last Friday against Mount Union.

The Blue Devils lost 21-7 to the undefeated Trojans.

MU tied the score in the third quarter on a 31 yard run by BJ Loner.

“They ran one play in the second half that beat us.  It hurt us, and then we didn’t even move the ball on offense,” said senior Zach Mock.

They scored two more times in the fourth quarter.

The loss was Bellwood-Antis’ first to Mount Union in 15 years, and it was the Blue Devils’ first ICC lost in 57 games.

Bellwood-Antis quarterback Jake Burch completed 9 of 18 passes for 95 yards in 1 touchdown, an 18 yard pass to Cameron Wood.

Senior Kyler Lardieri had four catches for 53 yards.  Cameron Wood had a 118 total yards with four catches for 40 yards and sixteen catches for 78 yards.

“We need to find all of our mistakes and get better from them.  Even though we lost two games already, we’ll win the rest of them,” added in senior Kyler Lardieri.

Even though it was a rough game for the B-A boys, they still played their best.  This Friday they will be up against Everett at Memorial Field.
