Senior Chance Schreier is a tight end and defensive end for the Blue Devils. Last Friday, he played his final game in the Blue Devil jersey.

Chance played an outstanding game in B-A’s win over Greater Johnstown to close out the season, and has been selected as this week’s Athlete of the Week.

Chance played a big part in the Blue Devils’ victory. He was able to get into the endzone twice in route to a 40-6 blowout. His first touchdown was a 12-yard scoop and score in the first quarter. His next touchdown was a 5-yard reception from a pass by his brother, Holden Schreier. Along with his touchdowns scored, Chance ended the game with 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss.

On the season, Chance has had a big role on the team. He has been the team’s favorite endzone target, as he leads the Devils with 4 receiving touchdowns. On the defensive side, Chance has been a turnover machine. He leads the team in both interceptions and forced fumbles, with 2 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles.

Chance began playing football in the fourth grade.  To get better and prepare for his final season, Chance would go to the lifts with the team, and play 7-on-7’s.

Winning in the team’s final game meant a lot to Chance. In fact, he says that winning that game was his favorite memory from his football career. Although the season didn’t go exactly how B-A wanted it, it was good to end the season on a high note.

“It was a bit disappointing. I wish we could have won a few more games,” Chance said regarding B-A’s season.

Coach Nick Lovrich said Chance should feel proud about his senior year.

“Chance definitely played a huge game in his last game as a Blue Devil.  He strip sack/fumble recovery for a touchdown set the tone for the game,” Coach Lovrich said. “It was great to see him leave it all out there on the field.  He had a great senior season and should be very proud of his efforts throughout his career.”

Chance is a three sport athlete. Apart from football he plays basketball and track and field.

After high school chance is planning on going to college to major in civil engineering.

Congratulations to Chance Schreier on being this weeks, Athlete of the Week.
