Seven B-A singers will be competing at District chorus. Front row (l to r): Jocelyn McGuire, Gianna Juart, and Annie LeGrand. Back row (l to r): Daman Mills, Avery Turek, Carter Rettig, and Jacob Caracciolo.

It is that time of year again for the musical theater group; it’s district chorus auditions week. A select few from the Bellwood-Antis choir will be traveling this Sunday, October 16, to Everett  to audition for a spot in the performing group.

The group includes seniors Daman Mills, Avery Turek, Carter Rettig, and Jocelyn McGuire; junior Annie Legrand; and sophomores Gianna Juart and Jacob Caracciolo.

The District Chorus is a group of talented musicians that are hand selected from professional trained judges. The top 20 of each selection will advance into the next round which is regionals. The selected students will sing songs together, perform together, and compete together. Once students are in districts, they compete together to get into regionals to go to states.

It’s a very large step for who I want to become and my music career

— Annie Legrand

Students have been preparing by going down to Miss. Beth Hulls room every period they can to practice their audition song. They prepare any chance they can get, inside and outside of school.

District chorus means a lot to Daman Mills, who has competed in District chorus since he was a sophomore. He qualified for state chorus on tenth grade and finished one place off advancing last year.

“I would really like to go back and work with the teachers and professors,” he said.

Annie Legrand, who is going to Districts for the first time, is also very passionate about this audition. “I’ve always loved being in choir and being a part of a group that can work together to make a beautiful sound.”

Good luck to all the Bellwood students who are auditioning this weekend!
